I have read dozens of threads, articles etc etc ad nauseam trying to understand backspace and offset to determine what to purchase. I fuggin give up. I have a mental block when it comes to understanding how those work.

2009 TRD Offroad 4x4 access cab running stock wheels. I got some bushwacker flares I want to put on but with stock wheels I think the tucked in tire look might be a bit jenky. If I went spacer I would want spidertrax but they only sell 1.25 and 1.5 inch spacers. Bushwhackers only stick out 3/4" past stock flares so spidertrax spacers would push the wheels out too far I think. So the solution would be new wheels. My tires are new and I dont want to buy another set so new wheels would have to be the same 16x7 size. So wtf do I look for in a wheel offset or backspace to push the wheels out 3/4 to 1 inch?

You can go up to a 16x8 inch wheel and still be ok.

There are literally tons of options to choose from.

16x8 zero offset 4.5" backspace is a popular option and on a third gen push out the wheels about 1.5" over stock. I imagine a second gen would be roughly the same.

    What size are your tires?

    Or...

As far as poke, use a calculator. Your stock wheel should be a 16x7 ET +30mm...

In a 16x7 you'd need +12mm offset for 3/4" of poke. You'll be hard pressed to find such a size.

In a 16x8 you'd also need a +12mm offset for 3/4" of poke. Limited selection in this size. Think Ultra, American Racing and the like...

A 16x8, 0 offset would give you 1-1/4" of poke. This is a a really common size.

I use the word "poke" to describe how much the tire pokes, not the wheel.

    16x8 0 offset you’ll be fine.

If you want the tires to be even with the bushwacker flares, you’ll have to get into negative offset wheels which then come with their own issues.

Since I currently have my money going into a business I have to keep the cost under 150 per wheel.
