So, I'm taking my brakes off because I'm doing a bunch of work and i was going to paint my new, but rusty brake calipers when I had this epiphany. I don't think I'll be able to get my calipers to the level of cleanliness that I want before I paint them, so I'm looking for new calipers/rotors/pads online.

Power Stop (I've used in the past and really liked) doesn't make a caliper to fit the stock size caliper on my 02 4x4 (XTRA Cab). They only make the Tundra brake (for the Tacoma brake upgrade) with 16" American Racing wheels.

Couple of issues here, that might not be issues, I don't know... I'm hoping someone can help me here.

This is what I'm looking at:

    http://www.powerstop.com/product/z36-truck-tow-brake-kit-with-calipers/#y=2005&mk=TOYOTA&mo=TUNDRA

    1. I have the Stainless Brake Line kit from Wheelers waiting on install and still sitting in the packaging- it's the "Tacoma" kit with the Tacoma sized banjo bolt though. I read somewhere that the kit from Wheelers wouldn't require drilling out the stock banjo bolt, but I wasn't sure if they were talking about the Tundra brake line kit...

    2. I understand I'm going to have to trim the dust shield- no issues. I'm good.

Any body got any ideas on this?

I just wanted to get any opinions on this if anyone had anything they'd like to share. We don't have to hold hands while you share, but if it would make you feel better, I'm happy to do it...

    :notsure:

Wheelers banjo bolt fits without drilling it out. That kit will work if it was 13wl calipers. Might want to call and verify that. What did it set you back $?.
You'll also have to bend the dust shield back just a little all the way around.

Why not get calipers from vatozone? You are going to paint them anyway. Maybe it is just me...but I've had good luck with whatever calipers they sell. Cheap, and they do the work.

I've had good luck with the brembo slotted rotors and green pads. I bought new calipers in the local autoparts for cheap with warranty. It's performing great with 33inch tires.

Just got off the phone with Power Stop. I wasn't even thinking about calling them when I wrote this at 2 am...

Also, @mechanicjon there was a previous post on this (like many others) and you were the one that mentioned the Wheelers banjo bolt didn't require drilling. I believe (again, 2 a.m. it was from like 2010) and didn't want to resurrect an old thread. Thank you for commenting.

    Kit $$ = $324 w/ $80 core charge.

:goingcrazy: That is the EXACT video I watched on this to see how to do it all.

True and I thought about that, but these are already powder coated and I won't have to deal with it...
