i once had a "lady" send me a cashiers check for $3000 for a winch i had on craigslist, and was selling for $600. She told me to keep 600 of it for the winch, and then to use the rest of the money to ship the winch to Georgia.....and im in Alabama (i think i would personally deliver it to her front door and keep the extra cash in this case). so while she is insisting on me depositing the check in the bank pronto, only so it can bounce, i have it in my back pocket while working, and then i pull it out, and the ink and everything is completely smeared. After screwing around with her for a few days,i told her that real checks dont smudge...i never heard back. people these days...

An old roommate of mine had a similar thing happen. He was selling a motorcycle on Craigslist and the guy gave him well over twice his asking price, and the "extra" was to cover shipping charges. The check the guy sent went through my bank account, and absolutely no way would I hand out $4100 until the check cleared, which of course we knew it wouldn't long before we put the check in the bank. The guy was FURIOUS when my roommate refused to send the bike on its way until the check cleared. Geez, the scam was that transparent. Did he really think we'd take a check on faith?

We tried selling a piano once on CL, lady called us at 11 at night and demanded that we play it over the phone. None of us play piano so we just slapped the keys. LOL She insisted that she really wanted it and her brother would be there the next day, never showed up. That's why we never hold for anyone unless money is involved.

I was put in charge of selling a bunch of pretty much wild miniature horses once. They got a lot of interesting emails. A lot of the scam "I'm interested in your item, I'll send you a cashiers check, and you ship it to me." Yes, because a mini horse is an "item".

I also sold my Taco's stock bumper for a lot more than I planned on getting. I scanned CL to compare prices and put mine at $80 (which was in the ballpark of what everyone else put it theirs up for) guy came and gave me $60 for it. Everyone was pissed at me because they would never GIVE theirs away. LOL I did end up with a second one that was a little beat up and we just gave it to this mexican guy, he was so happy he almost looked like he was going to cry. "Free? REALLY?!" in his little accent. So cute lol

I love it when hillbillies try to sell their Cummins and the whole ad is in 2nd grade grammar.

Ass for every seat..and boy do you find the asses there.

I expect to get haggled on price, been selling cars on my own for 25 years almost now so I always price it a little higher.

Right now I have 2 pool ladders up there..$300 and $200. One has less than a season use and is over $400, the other is $250 new and still in box never assembled. Should be interesting..
