Not here to defend GM, but someone in engineering & development came up with a couple of REAL off road packages, in both the Colorado & full size...I'm OK with my Tacoma, as I bought it knowing its short comings....I still can't get passed that intermittent wipers we're not standard. Thanks to this forum, I picked up a tip that a Corolla intermittent wiper switch, could replace the the 2 speed wiper switch on the Tacoma...Really ???

Breaking news - someone hit a deer in Maryland.

God I hate those things...they’re everywhere here. I hit one while riding my dirt bike (which is probably the most Maryland thing I’ve ever said).

Way too many deer everywhere, but game & fish commissions just keep protecting them. Over the yrs. I've hit 3 & have had 2 run into the side of me, one on my motorcycle. I hate the dang things. I've read somewhere that deer are one of the top expenses for auto ins. co.'s & it's got to be true for the public also..

Gave one a deer a smack with my plate bumper a few weeks back, only heard a THUNK and then i saw deer feet in the air. Got up and looked at me like "what the hell man" and darted into the woods

I’ve been extremely lucky, I’ve had more close encounters with deer than I can count, but I’ve never actually hit one. Hell, I had a close call with an elk herd in northern Wisconsin too. Luck and reflexes have been on my side so far.

When the deer run into the side of your truck or motorcycle, Luck works & reflexes ain't worth a sheet.

We imported elk into Virginia several years ago, so if you think a white tailed deer will do a number on your car, just wait until you hit one of those...lol

Around here, the deer hunting weapon of choice is the F 150.

I drive all secondary roads on my daily commute, I'm always seeing fresh skid marks and bloated bambi carcasses. I hit one 2 months ago that was already dead, taking a nap on the asphalt. It was on a blind corner, I couldn't fully stop or swerve around it because of on coming traffic so I ran it over at about 20 MPH. It did a number on the front end alignment and put a good dent in the skid plate. As far as a "total" amount on a vehicle- it's usually when the repairs hit 70% of the vehicles value.

Glad that you didn't get injured and your truck was finally fixed correctly using OE parts.

Yeah like charging non residents $$$$ to hunt them, even though the state is overrun with deer.Less and less people hunting due to the cost.

A few years back my daughter backed into something with the tailgate down and put a small dent in the top of it. I was looking for one in a scrap yard. If I could have found one in white that would have been a simple swap with no body work or paint I'd have bought it. But I never found one and have since decided to just live with the dent.

I was told that it was hard to get most insurance companies to total one since they held value so well. One guy told me they had a 1-2 year old Tacoma that had been rolled. Mechanically it was still perfect, but every body panel had to be replaced. They didn't total it.
