Thanks for posting the Doctor's comments. It's disgusting that those in power forget to listen to their constituents. I do consider incidents like the Luby's massacre every time I strap on my gun, and the responsibility that is commensurate with carrying a deadly weapon.
It's even more appalling that either side politicize this lunatic's action to advance their agenda. My thoughts are with the victims.

If you want to allow your government to argue for you rather than making your own arguments heard, then you are the problem.

They obviously have never realoaded a handgun, 33 round magazine or two 17 round magazines or three 10 round magazines make no diference you are taking lives either way and if you are even remotely familiar with a weapon then like the other lady says it takes 1 second to switch out mags... and will someone educate these people ots magazine not clip

on another note i wish i was this fast, mag capacity is irrelevant to this guy

This incident is creating a lot of anti-gun rhetoric. Clearly you can't keep guns away from criminals, and surprise, murder is already illegal...so wouldn't it make more sense that this would increase the pro-gun talks? If one or two people in that crowd were armed this man would have been subdued much quicker.

Instead of limiting the right to carry I think every citizen of the United States should be REQUIRED, by law, to carry a gun. This would make criminals think twice. Just my opinion...

I think gun controll means using both hands. And I like the idea the we should be required to carry. That would make things interesting. :)

Let's ask our friends in Mexico (the law-abiding ones) how well their strict gun control laws are working to protect the people.

^ This. I don't trust most people driving on the roads let alone in a tense, crowded situation where they might have an itchy trigger finger.

With proper training and years of experience even the police can miss a target, except most times they're capable of restraining themselves from taking the shot if the conditions are not ideal. In my opinion the general population will not display that level of self-control and will tend to make a situation far worse.

Extreme gun control isn't the answer, but neither is arming everybody. One extreme is just as bad as the other.

I wish it would cause the anti-inflammatory-rhetoric folks to come out. Seriously. It would be nice to return to civil discourse and intelligent debate in this country.

Hangings would be nice. Then we'd have human rights activists crying up a shit storm for criminals.

One of the worst ideas that many are trying to grab onto. Basically, only the rich can afford ammo. Makes the weapon useless. Also, any responsible gun owner should be VERY familiar with their weapon which requires plenty of range time and many thousands of rounds. Artificially raising the price of ammo makes for less trained carriers and is against the premise of a capitalist society.

Like some have said, we already have laws against murder. What should be done is to increase the penalties for violent crimes (all, not just murder) and reduce the appeals process time. This guy should be in a chair with a needle in his arm within 3 months. It's not like there is a claim that he didn't do it. I don't but the insanity plea. It should be guilty by reason of insanity and they should be removed from society just the same and not cost tax payers millions of $$ over their life.

my wife and i had a debate about this last night...banning guns isnt going to reduce crime

look at new york..all guns are banned, therefore criminals look at everyday law abiding citizen joe schmoe and say "oh hes not carrying, im gonna mug him with my gun that i bought illegally" lets see that shit happen in Texas were criminals think twice about that shit "oh god, should i mug him? maybe hes carrying maybe hes not, thats not a chance i wanna take"

you tell me which is more crime-deterrent
