That "tabletop" hard plastic is only in SR5s, I believe. It was a great little changing table during infancy.

OP, also buy a set of Carhartt seat covers, and get some Husky Weatherbeater floor mats or similar.

Congratulations and welcome to fatherhood. . As everyone says the first 2 years is in rear facing only use the bottom tethers. Then at 2 you need the top tether. . If you have a double cab put them in the middle

The toddler and baby seat mod.
First thing, research the car seat that y'all want, then read and install said carseat according to the manufacture's instructions. Seat belts will work fine, car seats are designed to work with them.

My car seat fits better with the seat belt than it does using the latches onto the brackets. I rarely have him in my truck because my wifes vehicle is easier to get him in and out of.

Also, our seat bases were inspected by the Police department and they gave us the "good job" on securing the base with the seat belts.

I dunno about that.. seems he thought the LATCH was the only method of car seat restraint.

He's not going to be using those subs very much once the kid comes, so taking them out is kinda neither here or there.

Truth. I'm looking at just sacrificing my entire driver side rear 40% seat area to a massive 24 inch sub just to drown the little fucker out.

No, but seriously OP, just go to a Buy Buy Baby or similar store and test fit some cars seats, and you will quickly get the idea of 1. what is needed for now and in the future and 2. what will actually fit without pushing the passenger seat all the way forward and allow you to lift you bundle of joy in an out easily from a rear-facing seat.

And start homework. Start it now. Here:

While you can use seatbelts for any car seat, the LATCH attachment is necessary for the infant car seat bases. So you'll want to put those back in, unless you want to hassle with the seatbelt every time you put the little one in the car. Its worth it to lose the subs and put the LATCH attachments back in just so you can quickly/quietly remove the car seat without waking the baby!

Depends on the make model. Look at Chicco Keyfit.

Congratulations! I just a had my own child 31 weeks ago and was in the similar boat. What I have currently my DC is a Britax base in the rear center, belted to the lower LATCH d-rings (one on the rear-driver's side Right, and one on the rear-passenger's side Left). Works good for now. The issue I may have is when it comes time to get the upgraded toddler racing seat is for when she becomes a toddler weight. I only left my Driver's side upper 'D' ring (those D rings that everyone cuts off during a box/amp rack install) available. I really don't want her sitting on the side of the vehicle, and may need to revise my box install since I have the passenger and center D rings covered up currently with my sub-box. Just some things to consider.

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
This actually works pretty well and lets you load them from either side. I don't know if I took one, but my little man puts a foot on each seatback, and it looks like he's in stirrups giving birth. Talk about airing it out...

I'm trying to train him NOT to do that, if we were in a wreck his legs would be in a bad spot. As they get longer, he won't be able too.

It's a tight fit with a 2 year old in the Tacoma, but he's normally riding in the 4Runner, which is pretty much downright cavernous.

I have an 8 month old, and I use only the seatbelt. I think the seat is the Chico Keyfit.

On the passenger side sits my 8 year old, and on the driver side sits my 5 year old in a booster seat. For this scenario, the Taco does just fine.

We take regular trips to the local pharmacy(liquor store) for Dads anti-stress medication.
