When I was driving a Semi, once came up behind a woman putting on lipstick while sitting at a red light... the light changed, she didn't move...5 seconds...nothing...10 seconds...nothing...15 seconds...BBLLLAAAAAASSSTTTTT on the Air horns. I LOVED seeing her expression in the mirror when her arm jerked and she saw the bright red stripe across one cheek from the lipstick...

Brings back memories of the train horn we put on a buddies Chevy in high school. People went under truck and asked to blow. Yeah not smart.

They drive fast here in NC. Routinely up in the 80 mph range on the major highways and do the same thing. 2 fingers on the wheel while they text, or eat, or read the notes they have for their first meeting...
Most people have no idea how fast things happen at that speed. Scares the hell out of me.

I saw a guy playing the saxophone and others reading books. This was before smart phones and cheap lap tops /tablets.

I even saw a bike ride on the 405fwy near LAX riding his Harley one handed as the other hand was holding his cell phone to his ear !!!

I was getting pissed one day going to RI on I-95. Dipshit in the left lane was going the same speed as the rest of the traffic, and I couldn't pass. Was weaving, going slow, then speeding up (still not passing anyone else though). This was pre-smart phone days, otherwise I would have guessed that's what she was doing. As I finally got the chance to pass her in the right lane, I look over, and see a small TV propped up on the dash. -"You gotta be fucking kidding me".

It's funny how when you put it in context, it doesn't seem as ridiculous now, as these days there are probably tens of thousands of people at any one time, in this country, doing essentially the same thing with their smart phones.

Wife and I were eating lunch outside at a general store/sandwich place one day and saw an old guy pull up in a dump truck. He got out and we noticed he was missing his right arm. He proceeds to throw away a paper bag with a 40 in it, goes in and buys another, gets back in his dump truck, and cracks open the bottle and takes a swig between shifting gears AND steering with his left arm. We just watched with our mouths open.

Passed a truck on the interstate that was doing a bit of weaving. Figured he was texting. Turned out it was an old dude reading a book balanced on top of the steering wheel.

I’ve seen tons of women putting on makeup, one using a blow dryer. Lots of people reading books and news papers. People wearing ear buds driving.

Guy I used to work with said his ex gf jumped on top of him and was riding him while he was driving. She ended up some how knocking the shifter in reverse doing about 60. That was before they had the electronic safety’s. He said it made a ton of noise until it stopped but never blew up :notsure:

Not much surprises anymore. You read stories of people sleeping in their Tesla’s with the auto pilot on. Driving is getting more dangerous every day. Until cars are fully self driving it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Then people can do whatever the hell they want in their cars and shouldn’t have to worry about putting other at risk.
