Hey guys, I'm new to TW and to owning a Taco.

Does anyone know what/if Ohio has any restrictions regarding light bars? My google-fu isn't turning up anything.

I haven't ever heard of any laws AND, based on what I see the local hill-jacks driving, there are not any restrictions.

Just wondering if anyone knows, off-hand.

Good luck with getting a correct answer from those ...gentlemen. While you're at it, ask them for the latest CCW carry laws. Ha!

Go to Ohio's attorney general's website. They may shed some light on it. Pun intended.

Sorry to resurrect this. A good buddy of mine is a cop. He told me you just cant have more than 4 forward facing headlights. I would want to say you're safe running it as long as you dont have fog lights on. But then again, you're not out of the woods yet if they're not DOT approved. You COULD be harrassed about it but then again, if you're minding your own business and not causing issues (drinking and driving/driving like an idiot/swerving. you get the idea) then most wont bother you.

I have some KC lights that were on the truck when i bought it. i've ran them with the headlights and fogs at night and cops never gave me an issue.

:ohsnap: Cept you can't have more than 8 forward facing light in CA either. It also applies to off road on public lands. Off road specific lights must be covered when operating on a public highway.:annoyed: Not enforced very often. Only when PC is needed for a stop or the person is a "adam henry".

    (B) Any lighted light or illuminating device upon a motor vehicle, other than headlights, spotlights, signal lights, or auxiliary driving lights, that projects a beam of light of an intensity greater than three hundred candle power, shall be so directed that no part of the beam will strike the level of the roadway on which the vehicle stands at a distance of more than seventy-five feet from the vehicle.

Welp, I guess I can run a hidden bumper light, but I can't have it on while I have my fogs on.

Not sure about light bars, but I had too many tacos and tequila shots last night, and my tummy hurts. That's how I feel inside.

But now if you'll excuse me, I have powder skiing to do!

I figured if you didn’t have the aux lights on while on the highway you were good. Does anyone feel like they need a light bar while on a paved road? I’ve seen a couple trucks running even short bumper light bars at night and it destroyed my vision. I thought the light bar is mainly for off road use no? Just curious.

I want one because I live in deer country and I really don't want to smash my new truck by hitting one. However, I don't want to blind people, so I'm going to try and hook it into the high beam circuit so it switches off with the highbeams.

I treat mine like a highbeam, I didn't wire it to the relay just a toggle switch in the cab. The slot on the 3rd gen just above the sliding glass/bed outlet/bed light. Used an old computer chassis to fill the hole, cut the backside of it out, ran the switches through the new hole and mounted all back on so it's easily within reach.

Got pulled over for a taillight out and the officer asked me about it and I told'em how I used them on the road and he said that's way better than other jerks.

    Where you at in Ohio?

Funny note, I passed a mid-90's Ford Ranger today. Had a 60" lightbar above the cab and an identical one on the bumper. Thank God they weren't switched on!
