Getting ready for the long drive out to Utah. Leaving Ohio on the 15th of December till the 30th. Any recommendations or tips would be great!

How did your trip go? Planning this in June of 2018. Not looking forward to the drive. At all.

The trip went great! The wife and I both agree that it was the best vacation we have ever been on! Give yourself plenty of time and no schedule.
On the way their we went the northern route. Ehh. Wasn't much until Colorado. Drove through a craptastic ice storm in Nebraska which forced us to stop for night and added another day of driving.
Enjoyed Colorado so much that we spent a day there.
Utah was great! Colorado and Utah have the nicest people I have ever met.
We hit the big 5 parks while we were there. ( Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce, Capital Reef and Zion) we did alot of hiking, camping, offroading and exploring.
When we do go back, we both agree that we would just explore Moab for the whole trip. There was so much to do and see there that we didn't have enough time to do it all.
On the way back we took the southern route through Arizona and Texas.
Expenses wasn't that bad. $770 for gas round trip. We cooked out almost everyday and stayed in a few hotels. ( Around 2k )
All in all...it was worth it! Not to mention, we came back with twins on the way.

A friend lives in SLC, the (condensed version) plan is to meet him and his modified Rubicon in Moab and do what you did, the 5 National Parks over a week. With a 50/50 mix of camping/hotels.

    Please post pictures!

Great pics, thanks for posting them!

My friend from SLC will actually be towing his "crawler" Rubicon down with his RV. So that should cover a lot of bases. But my wife is open to the idea of an RTT - because she hasn't seen the prices for them yet.

As for the truck, it will be entirely stock. Although I plan to pull my sidesteps off for the trip.

As you will find out - that 2k trip was a bargain compared to a week at Disney!
