On the contrary, the parts are all "mil spec", they should all last as long.

I had (just sold it as we are dumping everything in preparation to move) a self built Del Ton parts gun, had upwards of 10,000 rounds through it. Carried it at work, qualified with it 2x per year, and it was one of the few rifles that ran 100% on the range - probably because it was so basic, it had nothing extra but a Hogue grip and a straight 2 pt sling!

$500 to build it and it ran with the expensive shit all day long. Had no reservations trusting my life to it.

I never got into any optics as I always felt that for urban stuff, probably 75-100 yds max, the iron sights were more efficient.

Ah, Polaris... I picked up two of the "bucket of bullets" last week. Couldn't beat the price.

I wish F&S had a web storefront. The only way to compare prices is to go in the store. Guess they got me.

Nope, only shotty I have is the short model in my truck. I actually just sold - at a garage sale that I am currently babysitting - the last gun I am selling, a Marlin 60. I watched like 20 people finger fuck it today and not a single one of them checked the action after picking it up. Then I had to listen to all of them tell me about what awesome hunters / target shooters / outdoorsmen they were (and how much they hated Obama...? WTF, morons...) while they violated the most basic fundamental of firearms safety. I've noticed in my lengthy experience with guns - shooting all my life, copping for 19-ish years, and I used to work part time in a gun store - that probably 80% of people who are interested in guns are total fucking retards. Don't even get me started on the CHL holders I've encountered who are in total disregard of laws, common sense, and general firearms safety principles; all the while carrying their shit-ass Hi Point shoved Mexican style against their dick.

Hahaa oh man I know what you mean. I have no experience compared to your years handling firearms or dealing with people, but I've certainly noticed the alarming number of gun advocates that blabber on and on about how much safer the country would be if everyone had a handgun on their hip at all times just like them... all the while completely disregarding proper gun safety.

I was lucky enough to have a family friend who is a LEO give me a crash course on firearms when I first expressed interest in them. He showed up at our house with his assault rifle, a few handguns, some other cool stuff, then proceeded to drill into my brain that you don't touch the trigger unless you're aiming at something you intend to shoot, always check action and mag when gun is handed to you, even when you know it's empty it's still loaded.. blahblahblah. Great education to get, and it certainly stuck with me!

Those Marlins are way cool. My 80DL was handed down to me by my Grandmother. It's a late 40s model that was bought for her by her uncle who intended to teach her to plink with it, he died shortly after so the rifle was stored for 6-7 decades broken down and wrapped in newspaper. This is the condition that it was given to me in, and I have treated it like gold. The walnut finish is as beautiful as ever and the barrel has only a handful of needle point sized rust spots. Fucking love the thing. Need a shotgun for some larger game huntin tho.. hopin to go for some feral hogs in a month or two if i can find a used pump in reasonable condition.

Vance's often has police trade in 870 12 ga for $150 or less. I think I bought a well used one for $100 there a few years ago. They have the 18" modified choke bbl but you can easily find a longer bbl with removable choke used locally for $40-ish. Those PD guns are good finds for truck guns or beater guns because they are not really shot a lot, they just sit around for years in cruisers. Ours (which are 14" bbl which is a perfect length) are literally rusting away. We qualified yesterday and the shotgun from one of our spare cars was covered with a sheen of surface rust from total neglect since last years qualifications.

Nope...I'm still in debug mode. It does power on (after I searched high and low to find THREE power buttons) but I get a damn "Open Compartment" Error Message and can't find the source of it. Can I get an Office Space-themed meme please? "PC LOAD LETTER??!?! WTF IS PC LOAD LETTER!!??!?"
