How many use Slick 50 or Dura Lube or Lucas oil additives when they change oil? If you change every 3500 as I do is it worth it? Another question... Can you subsitute 1qt of syn. oil with 4.5 of dino oil as an option? Currently I'm using Castrol GTX 5w-30w religously

I've used Lucas Oil a couple of times in my fuel. Not sure if it did anything. I know general rule is not to use additives in the oil or fuel.

IMO they are just a waste of money. I doubt they would hurt you engine, but your engine doesn't need them. Just continue changing your oil with quality products and it should last for many many miles.

I forgot to answer your other question. Yes, synthetic oils will mix with conventional oils.

There's enough additives in today's oil. Most of the stuff is just a marketing ploy to separate you from your money. Just change your oil at the specified intervals and keep your truck properly maintained and you should last at least 200K miles.

Oh, and about the Lucas additive:

No problem, I think we're born suckers until we gather knowledge through time with help from forums such as these.
