Does anyone add oil additives while doing oil changes?

Best bet is to use good oil and change when due. Current truck's getting free dealership oil changes, but over the years I've stuck with Mobil One every 5K miles.

As has been said above, modern oils (especially synthetics, but also many conventional oils) have a lot of the necessary additives already in them. While many may argue about which brand is better, the bottom line is this: Get a good brand name oil, such Castrol, Valvoline, Mobil 1, etc. and run that. Everything you need is in the oil.

The only time you need any additives for oil is a zinc additive when you rebuild an engine. That's what I have heard at least, don't know the theory behind it

Sometimes I use an engine flush in the old oil before I change. But I never add anything to the new oil. Just run something good like Mobil 1 and your engine should outlast the rest of the vehicle.

Never used them. Used to "sell" them when I worked at Pep Boys in college. I put that in quotes because those items usually sat on the shelf collecting dust for months. They're not really needed. Oil has tons of additives in it anyway.

Wife's dad uses some all natural additive, and swears by it. Claims it has kept his engine quiet and feels its running smoother than ever, near 200k on his Taco. He gave me a bottle...it sits on the shelf in my garage.

No need for additives, it's pricey but it's the best lubricant IMO

$30 for a 5qt jug at every Walmart I've ever been to. Thats only a few bucks more than conventional, can't beat the deal.

I've thought about tring Lubegard Biotech. Alot of folks on BITOG swear by this stuff. Currently running Valvoline Maxlife atf and Lubegard platinum in my transmission. So far so good.

I use either Mobile 1 High Mileage or QS Ultimate Durability, both are good oils from everything I've read.

Nope, I just change it every 5k and call it good. Not a high-performance engine and I don't ask too much of it so I see no reason to do anything else.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
The only additive that I can say from personal experience that is good it BG MOA.

A friend rolled his car up on its side and I reached in and turned the key off a half hour later, after the tow truck up righted it. It sat there on its side and just idled away with no issue.

Mobil 1 previously and now Amsoil. No need for additives. When I read aftermarket "additive" I think "snake oil".

FWIW I wouldn't mess with adding anything to your oil like many others have shared here. Just change your oil on time. If you're wanting to go longer on your oil changes, make the switch to synthetic or a "synthetic blend". I'm an old school kind of guy and change my oil every 5k miles for sake of mind.
