image.jpg 04 Tacoma 2.7l with super charger. i tried to load a 12MB video but some error, no allowed extension. ??
Anyway it been going through a lot of oil. Now I’m seeing it in the supercharger we pulled out cause it’s making a terrible clacking noise. I’m pointing to what I believe is the PCV? .
also I’ve read here that a oil catchment can would be appropriate So the PCV, how would it let so much oil go by? Doesn’t it just release airborne vapors from the top of the motor.?

Correct. Is that PCV hose connected to straight vacuum? Last thing you want to do is pressurize the crankcase. That'll cause a lot of oil consumption. How much is a lot?

The other one closest to you...to the front.... feeds off the intake.....that where fresh air goes into the valve cover to flush out all the acidic hydrocarbons...

the one in the back where your hand is.....is the pcv valve ......thats where the gases exit and get sucked into the intake manifold.....right next to the egr inlet area.....

Thats the reason these last for hundreds of years.......

however between that and egr gases ......the carbon builds up right there on the intake manifold.....that temp sensor is right there...
that gets nice and carboned too...

Really after 125K or so you should take off and clean the upper intake......

on mine at 150K.....those ports on the intake manifold had completely carbon shut.....had to ream all that out....and clean that temp sensor that screws in there...

and then maybe every 80K after that as more and more blow by from wear on the oil rings....and all that oil makes it thru the pcv valve......

So no free lunch for any of us....no substitute for proper maintenance.....
    no magic dust heere.....

But your system is completely different.....makes me wonder whats toyota's answer is for their SC trd models.....surely they didnt hang you out to die....

some use a catch can oil separator coming out of the pcv valve before it goes into the intake manifold.....

    Here's a 98....but simular....

Both of those tubes that go into the valve cover have to balance each other....same air in, same air out....otherwise it throws the Maf sensor off...and drives the ecm nuts trying to cope with wrong air volume numbers...
    your fuel trims....would go crazy.....

If you dont get those gases out of the engine top.....you're slowly destroying your engine....

Plenty other super chargers here.....so maybe they'll chime in....

a super charged engine.....300K is very old age.....that boost added pressure puts accelerated wear ....unless you find a secret from those other SC guys here....

with no pcv system.....it will use more and more oil......
then more and more blow by.......
and that oil builds up and destroys many things......freakin mess...

If you dont get those gases/oil vapor out of the top of the engine.....
then all your valves....cams, valve shims, and everything else on top will get cover in thick black burnt goo..........there's plenty of pics out there.....if you go lookin.,,,
    looks like smoked brisket......

pulling your valve cover off.....might reveal what that future holds...

If I had that situation and had no other choice....I would go buy an external vacuum pump...and suck all that out of the engine top and vent to atmosphere....and put a little mini filter on that front valve cover fresh air inlet tube....
but you'd have to put an oil separator can on that....or you'll soak that vac pump and ruin it in short time...

Tacoman the PCV hose goes into the manifold just before the throttle block, which the throttle plate is coated with gook oil. Cant say how much oil it uses but every 2 or 3 fill ups I need to add 1/2 q or so it seems. O’Silver T I ordered an oil catchment can. I sent the body of the SC to SCOL in Simi Valley. Seems the bearings might be going on the empellers
