I’ve always placed the oil cap on the hood latch that way you never forget to put it back on .

There is no money to be made in changing oil. The money is made in upselling stuff.

I contacted toyota corp..with a detailed account of what took place and a photo of the filler neck with dirt in it and the service document thats states that the cap was off since march...and that i want a oil change at the very least and a warranty on the engine would be great

You’d never know with what they charge for it at my dealership.

A free oil change is a nice gesture by the dealership, not required, it would be nice of them.

The dealer and independent I worked at didn't really make any money off of oil changes. The money was made on upselling.

    back to bone stock.
I’ve done it myself. Brain farted.

In older cars the oil filler cap isn’t all that well sealed.

Dealer did this to me, I got a write up stating what happened and a warranty on anything coming from it. Such as something falling in, debris, water or whatever.

I wouldn’t worry about it tbh. However id start doing your own oil changes.

My last oil change, the service technician left the keys Fob to another Taco in my cup holder. I got half way home when I realized I had a second key fob. You should have seen the look on their faces when I returned the key fob.

Freaking out is probably overkill and running your oil with 10k oil changes is more to be worried about.

Change your own oil at 5k intervals for like 30 bucks ... you don't even need a jack and leaving the cap off will be a no-op in the greater scheme of things.

Dude, they should at least change your oil again. The fact you had to ask, you should have told them to give you 2 years of oil changes or some credit for the extra time you had to spend there, just out of principle. Your time is valuable too.

I imagine this is sarcasm, but I would not want a new motor unless necessary. A motor replacement is never as well put together as one connected to the chassis in the factory before they drop the body on.

You’re fine. Although I would be extremely annoyed if that happened on my new truck as well!
