lol. You weren’t a content buyer. You had to change the tune of the truck to make you happy. And thank goodness for that clean engine. I wonder if your truck will last longer than mine because of it. None of these trucks could possibly make it long with all that oil in the engine.

like I said, end of the day, it’s not my truck. I’ve just been doing this long enough that I don’t put unnecessary stuff on my vehicles like catch cans or intakes. They do nothing but drain my wallet

Or, they've got other reasons. For example, catch cans have to be serviced (what happens when they fill up and overflow?) and decided that the gain they can't even measure wasn't worth the risk.

I don't know that was the reason, but I do chuckle when I see people assume they know why something was or wasn't done by a team of engineers.

Look I'm not saying it's absolutely necessary and u need it our the 2gr is gonna shit the bed in 100k. But I believe in an ounce of prevention for a pound of cure. I do everything on this truck and plan to do everything in the future. Plus taking care of my truck makes me happy. It works for me. If u don't like it, don't install one, the rest is just background noise from tribal chimps.

To me, the catch can is like an air filter. You can change your filter more or less but your truck isn't going to lockup if you wait longer. When you do change the filter or clean the can you do "reduce" crap going where it's best not to go....even if it's designed to tolerate it. So yeah, $25 well spent. I would not purchase an CAI but I would pay twice what I did for OVTUNE's work and as I said I am a 100% content buyer with those additions. Cheers to us all making our rigs the best for what we want!

Honest question. Did you catch can stop this from happening again? I think we determined before this was likely coming from the breather and catch can would do nothing for it?

I thought so, but I disagree at this point. I was out wheeling and had issues on a steep incline like others have had. Mine shut off and I had to back down without power brakes or steering. It was steep and rocky and it sucked. People have done tests with and without on the same inclines and the engine smoked without one and not after one was installed. It appears that the issue is, at least partially, oil being picked up through the PCV on steep inclines. To me, if it fixes that, it is a HUGE benefit. I have one and will be installing before my big trip at the end of the month and I will test it out myself.

Right, but it's still pulling the air from inside the valve cover. Oil is all over the place in there. I just don't see how oil would get on the outside of the throttle body blade from the PCV side. It has to be coming from there in my simple mind. That's why I'm curios if the catch can stopped it or not.

No, he was right. There is an issue on inclines where oil is either pushing past rings/valves, or is being picked up through the PCV, or both. It looks like it could help if not eliminate it.

It pools in the back of the head from poor / insufficient drain holes and eventually gets sucked up by the pcv.

Yeah, I honestly goofed that up in my head when I said it. I wonder if they make an inline breather plug, to catch all those vapors and drain em back into the valve cover. After tearing apart a Honda w 200k, avoiding that mess would be nice.

That's what I am hoping as it is a lot more addressable.

I bought the same one and can recommend it. Although I did replace the cheap, clear, nylon hoses that came with it with some better, cheap rubber ones.
Just did an oil change the other day and dumped almost half an inch of brown oily crud out of it.
Well worth the $25 bucks and less than an hour to install it IMO.

I’m running the jlt catch can. After I installed it I went on a weekend trip with lots of very steep inclines, after a full day of wheeling I decided to check it to see if anything actually made its way into the can and to my surprise it caught about 1oz worth... So I’d say it’s worth it.

Clear hoses (if you could find some quality ones) would be really handy to see all of the crud going through them!

The residue is coming out of a small hose Before the tbody, and left a trail through it.

I don't have a catch can installed yet. This residue is coming off a small hose before the tbody.
