Yeah but that isn't what @Rottencotton is talking about. You're talking about newcomer discourse. He's talking about one person believing in a catch can and another person convincing them they're wrong.

You should ask @In4aride if a catch can on the EGR and PCV does anything...

make sure you drain it at oil change intervals too. i do not do any wheeling, mine is a DD, lots of highway miles. in 6000 miles, mine was over half full. Ski

Every 5k: rotate tires, suspension nuts and bolts torque, change oil, empty catch cans, check and fill all other fluids.

I will be picking up mine at JLTs in the morning. They are a 25 minute drive from my house. I used one on my Mustang and every 3500 miles I would empty it out. I think they work!

I see it as a "can't hurt" accessory. I have a JLT on my S/C, 2015 Mustang GT and I've checked it every oil change and most I've ever drained is maybe an ounce. The thing about forums is they are full of opinions and we all know what opinions are like....right? When I had my Mustang S/C'd I spent considerable time looking for the right shop. Ended-up shipping to a shop 500 miles away that was affiliated with Ford Racing and actually road raced Mustangs professionally. Every Mustang forum I ever surfed, the overwhelming opinion was if you add a blower, you MUST upgrade the factory OPG (oil pump gear). When I asked the install shop about it their response was: "I'll gladly take your money to do it but we've never seen one break on a street car.".....so I kept $1,200 in my pocket and 5 years later, so far so good.

Nice. What brand catch can and air intake are those?

lol at all the negative comments . Catch cans DO work . Reason they don’t have them in factory vehicles is because people don’t maintain their cars . Hell people can’t even get their oil changed on time these days . Some engines are worse then others for oil in the intake . Not sure on how Tacomas are(mostly work on domestic ) but being a mechanic I’ve seen tons of oil in intakes , there is no denying it increases carbon build up. Obviously it’s not needed but if some one wants to get all the life/ performance they can from their engine it’s a good idea .

Does anyone know what the repercussions are for failing to empty a catch can?

    Asking for a friend.

I’ve got my 2020 apart to install a super charger.
Check out the pictures of the stock intake after 3,700 miles. That’s 3,700, not 37,000!
I’ve got a JLT on the bench waiting to go on at the same time. I figured it would be even MORE important on a boosted engine.

    All of them.
That crazy. A lot of people say the can is not needed for a NA engine. I've had a can for about 20k now. I empty it about every 2k and it's 1/3 full.

    Sure is.

I JUST noticed the difference in the two banks in the first pic and I don’t remember wiping any of the surfaces. You can even see the difference on the tips of the injectors. The dirty bank must be the side where the PVC attached?

Same here. It most definitely pulls the oil out of the crankcase fumes. I'd rather not have it run through the engine.

    Stock and staying that way
If you install one, be good at emptying it. If it fills up, it will start dumping oil into the motor.

Drive more worry less. How about the millions of Toyota's out there with 200K or more miles with out one? You don't suppose it might even be beneficial for things like valve guides, piston rings things like that?

The photos in this thread are discouraging. No wonder Toyota didn’t do full direct injection. Our Tacomas would need walnut blasted every oil change
