If you would see the amount of tan creamy crap that this catches during the winter you would want one too . I'm all about keeping the internals clean and not diluting my gas in my truck . Ok ta cheap insurance and if they didn't work why the hell is there so many online

Maybe the same reason there is a trd intake... they look pretty and people buy them?

Initially, wasn’t this recommended for the smoking on incline troubles? Does anyone here wheel and have their two cents to throw in?

Unless you do plan to wheel at those angles, your port injectors should clean your intake valves enough to prevent any carbon buildup.

Why? Because so many people just want the little dopamine they get when they buy a new toy. There are so many do-dads available that don't increase function.

As far as the milky oily stuff in a catch can, every time you shut your engine down, it cools and sucks moist air in. When you crank it up, and it gets hot, it cooks back out and goes through the engine and out the exhaust....

When you install a catch can, it cools it back down and collects it..... with oil vapors.... making that milky mess.

Catch cans are good in the right application. For 99.99999% of Tacoma owners, it's added risk (if you don't empty it) and hassle for something that isn't necessary.

Now if you go up extreme hills, it might help keep a big slug of oil from getting sucked into the intake.... maybe.

They're necessary for direct injected engines in order to keep buildup from occurring on the valves. However, the Tacoma uses direct and port injection making this kind of redundant. It isn't really going to hurt anything, but it isn't as big of a benefit as everyone is making it out to be either.

so being it the service industry i have the pleasure of draining these pieces of "equipment" ..... many times the vehicles come in with the valve open and sucking dirty air, mess everywhere or its so over full due to lack of maintenance between services. i absolutely believe they catch oil, but it is not necessary for your normal N/A vehicles. T/C and S/C vehicle where you have higher crankcase pressures and the expelling of more then just blow by gasses, a catch case is a good idea [with a proper maintenance schedule]

catch cases are like face masks, you either believe they work or you don't but at the end of the day its your call.

If you have that kind of problem after 35k, I think you have something going on that is more serious than what your little catch can will fix.

There have been plenty of Toyota engines that have gone over 500,000 miles without a catch can. The fuel system on the 3g taco is pretty nice as it is direct and port injected. Even with the oil vapor coming in, the port injection helps address that.

i don't take someones lack of vehicle maintenance personally. I get paid to fix stupid on the daily, and business at the FORD dealer is booming...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA fluids in filters at a regular interval based on usage. based in where i live and how i utilize my 13 tacoma i fall within the severe duty, LOF every 5K i choose to replace the diffs and T-Case, trans [6spd] every 50K for the driving i do. fluids and filters are cheaper then major repairs and or getting a tow out of the back counrty

You should see what happens when you tell people you change oil every 5k miles instead of the 10k Toyota says.
