omg yeah they freak there is some tight asses around here i dont care its my truck anyway people that are offended say your dumb and wasting money but yet people that do routine maintenance hay its nothing but good or cheap insurance i have a brother that's a diesel mechanic and he bought brand new in 1997 for power-stroke, yes its a diesel but the fact is he changed his engine oil and fuel filter every two weeks almost, he drove very far for work for longtime money was worth it anyway that truck lasted over 750k miles and still going to this day, granted he had to replace a few things here like high oil pressure pump, injectors, rear diff lasted till 600k miles and that was with amzoil synthetic gear lube, rebuilt the transmission , and i can go on with you know the basic crap that lol has to be changed out i mean damn thats alot of miles again yes a diesel but point is keeping on maintenance it works.

No, people get angry when a poster either
    A) Thinks they are smarter than the engineers who designed the truck or
    B) Thinks the engineers who designed the truck are smarter than them.

    Basically everyone.

So you installed a catch can. Complete waste of money but you do you right?
I don't do catch cans because every high mileage Taco and Tundra don't run catch cns and never did. It is a "feel good" mod.
Don't tell me it's better than stock until you have proof. Showing pictures of gunk is not proof. The guy with over 300K on his 3rd gen Tacoma with no mods following the maintenance schedule exactly is proof.

    Too much to list
I just came here looking for info but have to respond to this horse manure.

Basically, your opinion is Toyota is so fantastic at what they do there’s no need to “improve” things right?

As Toyota installs and programs the transmission thats damn near undriveable at high way speeds, puts in needle bearings that are prone to failure on the front driver side, still run rear drum breaks, continues to decrease warranty mileages and time frames, has extended warranties on fuel pumps due to premature failure, premature paint failure they refuse to take care of, completely rusted out frames, the sticking alignment tabs, installs a TCS sensor that is prone to malfunction in normal inclement weather, etc.

The engineers don’t care about the best product. They care about the best product for the 36k they have to cover the expenses. Period. It’s really that simple.

The amount of menstruation in this thread because someone is tempted to spend 150 bucks is unreal.

Not over edumicated standards. Just basic standards. Like the occasional use of periods when warranted. :) You do win the weekly award for the longest run on sentence though.

This was the intake runners on my 2000 Tacoma 2.7L at around 300k miles. Would a catch can have made a difference? I'm not sure but from what I've seen that owners empty out of their catchall cans..... it might have. I did have some pinging issues that was resolved immediately when these intake runners were cleaned out.

    Before cleaning:

    After cleaning:
    20171123_104137.jpg

I paid $47k(MSRP) for my 3rd gen Taco and yes I'm considering spending $100 on a catch can that may help prevent this if properly maintained.

This day and time we live in, we can find whatever answer we want to just about any question.

Catch can or not.... not that big or a deal.

My oil catch can has a Bluetooth content sensor that logs oil composition and relays it to my phone.
The data gets sent to black stone labs for analysis on a weekly basis(daily if im towing).

Some of you need to step your preventative maintenance game up.
