I know there's debate on whether these are beneficial or not in a non turbo engine like the Tacoma's V6 and we are not producing positive crank case pressure etc etc. But i can't imagine that it would hurt to get the few ounces of oil per change from being pulled into the intake and contributing to the carbon build up on the intake valves and pistons over the long run.

This is the system i thinking of buying. Installation seems very straight forward.

Isn't that the reason for port injection and not DI only?

There is no reason to install one. The 4DS system cleans everything up for you. Of course, YT will tell you something else. It's your money, do what you need.

I wouldn’t say there is no reason to do this. If it catches crap before it makes it to the engine it’s better for the engine. It’s so cheap to do and works.

I’d rather not have that dark crud in the engine…much of it is water vapor too as it separates in the catch can in a layer…don’t really like the idea of extra water vapor in the engine if I can avoid it

Well there’s an argument for using one. Oil in the crankcase vapors lowers your octane and contributes to LSPI.

I suppose if you had 300K miles and was burning oil that would be an issue. For a engine in good condition, it is not needed. If you have LSPI, you have other larger issues.

It’s next on my list to buy (can’t easily because I’m in CA). Last time I had my intake off the throttle body was pretty oily. I’ve also seen enough valve pics here to know the self cleaning system Tacomas have isn’t as great as it sounds.

That tiny amount of water vapor isn't an issue.

27,400 miles. I checked the TB last weekend as I found a rats nest in the intake box-pre filter a few weeks ago. Something I’ve been meaning to do thinking I was going to need a cleaning. It had to be when I was fighting cancer. Poor Taco just sat for a long time :0(

I strongly recommend oil catch can been running one over a few years now and it's highly recommend from me . It definitely captures so much pass by . The contaminated liquid reaks of gas . Winter time looks like a mocha milkshake.
