If you go to a dealer with an ExpressLube lane, the oil changes are quick. 2-3 guys work on the truck at the same time in an assembly line fashion. No appointments necessary. I've been able to get in and out in less than 30 minutes for oil changes.

Unfortunately the 30,000 mile service isn't just an oil change. It also typically includes servicing/lubing the brakes, greasing the driveshaft, maybe replacing the rear diff fluid. The dealer puts it in one of the "regular" repair bays. At least in my area, an "appointment" at a Toyota dealer is really just a scheduled time to speak with the service writer. They'll arrange the work at their own pace. Depending on their backlog it could take all day.

You should compile your last year or so worth of posts into a coffee table book on 3rd gen archetypes...I'd buy it

Relax pal, not everyone has either the time or facilities to do service on their trucks. I also noticed that you "liked" another reply that stated the oil filter is on the top of the engine. It sure was on my Gen 2, but my Gen 3 has it under the engine. Relax.

Meh, I make it so we (usually wifey as it is closer to her work) drop it off and pick it up at the end of the day. Dealers have pick up drop off to and from work around here.

had a friend who they got him out in excellent time. they didnt tighten down the oil drain plug and he ended up with a replacement engine in his S10. He said the truck was never the same again.

Ask the dealer what is going on. Sometimes stuff comes up and they can't service your truck when the appointment is. It happens, but you should probably ask.

I had a similar experience...scheduled warranty work for the morning time...got there dropped it off..dinner times rolls around and I call and ask and they have not even got to it yet. My dealers 'appointments' are not actual appointments, just something to get your name down on the calendar. They still get to you in the order the vehicle was dropped off, pretty much. Not only that, but they finally tried to squeeze my truck in at the end of the night and then broke my locker actuator thing..so I couldn't even go home with the truck. They had to deliver me a loaner the next morning!

I'm again taking my truck down to the dealer this Saturday to figure out what's going on with my truck (CEL) and I know it's going to be a disaster. Hate dealers!

This was at a Chevy dealer? A replacement engine would be an improvement for an S10, right?
