Admins should insert this as the lead post in the thread every time another oil thread starts.

Always good to have another oil thread, that way we know we'll never run out. Would be bad to run out of oil threads. :woot:

You are the 2nd person I seen report this.

I’ve reused the same one (from the factory) multiple times:confused:

I wasn't going to say anything, but since you mentioned it -- I still have the original crush washer in place. 2005 with ~110K miles, 5K OCI. I have new washers but the original hasn't leaked a drop.

I didn’t even know you we’re supposed to change the washer until about 3 years of owning my 1st Gen.
Hey, at least it was changing, right?
I mean, at 17 years old, you can’t know everything.

I like sucking the oil out with my mouth. Makes me feel "close" with the truck.

Yep. I torque the lug nuts after rotating the tires (every 5K mi). That's about it. Everything else is by hand... by feel... by decades of experience.

When I screw up and strip out something expensive, I'll own up to it and post it so everyone can laugh at me.

Out of habit I replace mine every time cus I have had the fiber get stuck once or twice. Copper/metal only crush washers on various other vehicles reused multiple times without issue.

Washer pictured was a knock off after only 600mi. And was finger tight as it oozed out and lost thickness!
