    Hello everyone,

I'm just wondering what would be the engine oil interval on a 2.7l 2008 Tacoma.

I only use 0w20 Toyota oil and filter.

I'm thinking going 12months 10000miles before doing an oil change.

    Thoughts?

    Thx guys

I’d stick with what the owners manual recommends.

BTW, get ready for more information than you ever cared to know on Oil, it’s functions, and OCI.
These posted usually go for pages. By next week, you’ll probably be so confused, you’ll just do what ever you want anyways. (Like I do:thumbsup:)

I don't think the engine matters. When my Tacoma was my daily driver I was putting 20,000 miles/year on it. I would change the filter at 5000, then at 10,000 I'd change the oil and filter. This meant a new filter about every 3 months and new oil about every 6 months.

The Tacoma is now a 3rd vehicle and is driven less than 10,000 miles/year. I just feel better not leaving oil and filter in for a full year. It might be OK, but at this point I change both oil and filter every 6 months regardless of miles.

If you want to know for sure how long you can go on oil, get the used oil analyzed by a company like Blackstone or ALS Tribology.

Anything anyone tells you is just a rough guess.

Depends on your driving style. Short trips reduces the intervals. Long trips where the engine can fully warmup and burn off any moisture means longer intervals.
Check and see where your driving situation puts in in regards to normal or heavy duty usage. We are all different.

(I can never resist an oil thread on Fridays. I get sucked in everytime)

The few times I did drink, I woke up in a floor, somewhere I didn’t belong, smelling of vomit.
I decided after the 3rd time, maybe drinking wasn’t for me.

But for you, here we go……………….

The thin oil does seem to ‘cook off’ more, I’ve noticed. 6K seems right to me, 10K might be getting a little ‘roasted’…

You and me have been around here long enough to know, that referring to the owners manual is a “safe” answer in threads like this.
Anything else, and you’re sure to be wrong. :fistbump:

    I have to agree......

Read and follow the Oil Change Interval, oil viscosity, API grade as specified in the OWNER'S MANUAL.

Really no need to spend for an oil analysis. Unless you want brobrag points.

    pfffffttttt......

5w30 Full Synthetic Valvoline, Pennzoil or Quaker are best oils without the brand name sticker cost.
WIX, NAPA Gold, Bosch or ACDelco are the bomb in filters.
