    Brother in law's 03 4runner V6 is pushing 280k. He uses conventional oil exclusively and at about 5-6k intervals.. No sludge and runs great. Synthetic oils (unless specified like for a Porsche 918), special filters, and short intervals are definitely a waste of resources and money if you're just dealing with a mass produced 3.5L generic van motor.
