You are right that I'm upset- Dude is BRAND NEW here and comes in with his tail between his legs asking for help on fixing a mistake and you give him that crap. Bullshit it wasn't rude- You KNEW it was going to at least sound rude- Hence the disclaimer before hand "Not to be a dick." Blunt is one thing- Being an asshole is another. You've got the latter nailed.

PS-Nice edit. You didn't handle anything- You acted like an rude ass to a new member and then tried to justify it. So not only are you rude...You know you are and think it's okay. GFY.

    enough to get me there
OP it happens. It happened to me on my 2000 4runner. Except I filled additional motor oil and drove about 40 miles. Felt like a total idiot. On the plus side, no damage at least nothing long term, because I got 180k miles out of that truck befor selling it to carmax.

Lesson learned. Never will that happen again. Don't be discouraged. To this day I do most of my maintenance on my tacoma; oil changes, spark plugs, lift and uca, and eventually brake pads and other mods. You live and learn.

whats it to you what he does with his 25k purchase? If he wants to fill the engine with sand and drop it from a plane it doesnt give you the right to say he shouldn't be working on it. Was he doing it for hire? No. Was he doing it for someone else? No. So no, you aren't being blunt, you're being a dumbass troll.

Yeah I was doing oil changes when I was 10 but that was because I was taught how to, not everyone has the luxury of being taught these things.

Sure I wanted to say wow wtf fail because i'm the biggest asshole on the planet but i stopped, stepped back for a second and said ok not everyone shares my world experience on everything.

Props to OP for giving it a shot, the bulk of my friends do not do ANY maintenance to their cars and its better to feel like an idiot, waste a day and drain a little fluid then it is to pay some lame ass EZ lube style place who will end up screwing something up just the same. Nothing damaged is no harm no foul and you wont be a slave to oil change companies anymore.

The thing is everyone makes a mistake once in a while and if it wasn't for guys willing to share them there would be a whole lot of people doing the same thing. Learn from other people's mistakes...and be man enough to share yours.

    Bad things happen.

Besides...after that I learned more about my truck. Since then I've personally made it into the vehicle it is below. And I only had help putting on the bumper due to it being a heavy bitch.

The correct answer to that question is ALWAYS "no, your fat ass makes those jeans look tight."

OK, maybe not, but I tell my wife if she looks like shit in something. Someone's gotta be honest with her.

Live and Learn, we all have made mistakes, important thing is that you learn from your mistakes. All the BS people are giving you, take it with a grain of salt, we all have made mistakes, some bigger then others. Next time you will know what to do, good luck with your Tacoma.

Don't feel bad OP I've seen the "Pros" at Jiffy Lube do the same exact thing. At worst only 3 qts would've drained out of the pan. fyi the tranny holds about 14 qts.

I didn't read through all the posts.. Just plug it up, call AAA tell em to drop it off at a shop.. Get new transmission fluid and an oil change and you'll be good to go. The worst you will get out of all of this, is a lesson in DIY work and a small shop bill..

Hey, we all make mistakes... Like last night, when i pissed on my toilet seat cover in the dark not realizing it was down :spy:
