Do something intelligent and use the fumoto valve from now on.
Used it for years on all my vehicles....no problems. Makes oil changes so easy and clean.

I've never heard of doing a oil change with cat poop litter... is this something new?

Well... it's an absorbent. I wouldn't recommend it because you're going to need a LOT of absorbent. A stupid amount of absorbent. No, it's not something anyone should really do.

Cat litter is diatomaceous earth which is what floor dry is. There are some differences but they have many similar properties and they both start out as DE ore.

Edit: Rich is correct, it would take more kitty litter than that to soak up a full oil change, much more.
EP floor-dry 25 lbs will soak up 12qts
EP solid-a-sorb 25 lbs will soak up 19qts
kitty litter... probably 6 qts if I had to guess...

Empty container. Those are about 7 or 8 quart capacity.

Saves having to transfer from a drain pan if you have a 4.0.
No help on the 2.7 because you still need a pan for the filter.

Very briefly, toward the end of the 80s, they actually sold cardboard boxes with a plastic liner, filled with "cotton-like" recycled newspaper.

Drain the oil directly into the box and pitch it!

These were only sold for a couple of years around 87 or 88.

    LOL!!!!!!!

I use nitril gloves to pull the filter. I don't care about the oil getting on me, but it's easier to keep the condo parking lot cleaner. Pull the filter, put it upside down on the edge of the drain pan, then pull the gloves off inside out.
I don't even lay down any newspaper and it's clean when I'm done.

 That's some funny shit right there. It would have been better if the guy was on his back on a DIRT parking space with the wind blowing dirt & oil all over him. Then on the way to Auto Zoned a car would pull out in front of him so he would have to slam on the brakes & spill dirty oil all over the inside of the Tacoma. That would elicit a few g#ddamns I bet.

My tip on the filter....after you loosen it some, slide a Zip-Lock sandwhich bag over it and loosen it up to the point where it starts to drip and let it drain into the bag. Once it done draining simply finish removing the filter with it still in the bag.

No mess on the ground and no mess on your hand or arm,
