Why do you say this? I have to ask as I have been using high mileage 5w30 in my O6 TACOMA for nearly 10 years and have noticed no I'll affects.....nor do I see any reason switching back would hurt it?

Not to say your wrong...im just asking to see if you know something I don't about this.

High mileage has more detergent to swell previously leaking seals...

Go back to less detergent oil, and the seals will now leak due to the swelling caused from the high mileage detergents being missing from the non high mileage oil.

This is why people used to THINK synthetic oil caused leaks... no, syn had much less swelling effect on seals, and the dino they used before had been the root problem.

They are "Wix" branded for Napa filters. Good stuff!

Exactly why I said that. Not a huge deal, just make sure you keep using the high mileage oil and it won't be a problem.

I can't find the article I read a while back...only certain oil additives will cause seals to actually swell. High mileage oils condition the seals to stay supple and not hardened up.

Its what i was told by a mobil rep 20yrs ago.

I could be totally wrong, as big oil coulda been just trying to sway people.

1515 also fits - same as Wix 51515. I have the equivalent size Purolator, PL30001. In Fram its PH8a, what my Dodge 360 V8 used to take.

@thewarriordinghy 1515 is a little larger. I also saw this larger filter on a thread here also. In Toyota Nation, some are using it on the L4 Camry. I'm using my leftover 51516's for daughter's Camry.

    I add extra .5qts for a total of 6qts, a nice round #.

From Wix website for 51515 & 51516; Napa drops the first digit.
    1515: 5.2" height; 3.7" OD
    1516: 4.8" height; 2.9" OD

I use penzoil ultra platinum 5W-30 with a K&N gold filter, that was my last oil change until then it was all dealer by the previous owners then penzoil synthetic at a Fast change now I do it myself and use the better stuff for half the cost

Do yourself a favor and look into getting a Fumoto valve.

The one thing that scares me about them. Granted this guy put an extension on one on an already very low car.
