Are you going to 20K, or the most you can drive in a year?

No I used it in my 4.0L it’s fine unless your hauling things and putting weight then the 0w30 is best but for street use it’s just fine

But why would you even want to? From the looks of the background you don’t live in a cold climate.

Curious, I have a 2006 2.7L and the owners manual calls for 5W-30 when did the 2nd gens 2.7L owners manual start calling for 0W-20?

    My 2010 2.7L calls for 0W-20 or 5W-20. I use the 0W-20 Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

OK, I have seen different oil viscosities recommended for the same 2nd gen 2.7L engine, my bet is Toyota made those recommendations to get a better MPG rating on the newer models.

It also depends on where you live and drive!
In the hotter areas 0w~30! Never 20!
As it has been stated, follow the owner's manual.
Unless you designed and rebuilt your own engine.

Thinner isn’t always better. Even if Toyota back specs. Good ol 0 or 5W30 synthetic for me. Still have found a uoa done on 0W20 on a 4.0L.

OP....you're fine. When Toyota issued the 0/5w-20 bulletin years ago the GR family was included on that list.

Both 0/20 and 5/20 have the same viscosity at operating temps. 0/20 actually makes 5/20 obsolete IMO.

Then, why get the 20K when the more affordable Extended Performance is designed to go 15K. Shoot, Mobil1 also has a non-Extended Performance Full Synthetic for 10K. Peace of mind? Seems a waste of $$ to me, but it is your $$.

Folks, remember the maintenance schedule is recommended maintenance for the masses. Not all vehicles will be driven the same and adjustments can be made. An oil analysis of my Mobil 1 5w/30 motor oil with 11K miles showed I could have gone another 2-3K. Results are posted in the Oil Analysis thread. I live in the SW where temps rarely go below 50 and can top 105, but I off-road in the dez where I've measured the surface temp up to 135. In colder climates, I would consider 0w-20. That being said, I would stick to the "book" during the warranty period.

OP is not fine thats a v6. Xw-30 should be used, not Xw-20..... the latter being too thin to properly lube the motor for our single vvti 1gr motors
