    1. change it yourself
    2. use a quality synthetic and a quality filter

i am doing my first change at 1000 miles, i don't care what's in it

thereafter, i'll know what's in it, and i can manage the change intervals my own bad self[/quote]

So with this new 10,000 mile interval, is there a time limit that goes along with it...like the 5,000 miles or 6 months (which ever comes first.)
The way I drive it would take 3 years to get to 10,000 miles...I sure as hell wouldn't go that long without a oil change!
As far as my truck, I'll stick with changing the oil every 4 months.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Pep Boys special this week is 5 quarts of any Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 high capacity ($12.99) filter for $29.99. I bought 10 quarts of 0/20 and 2 filters for $65.00. I will change over to the synthetic when my truck reaches 6,000 miles.
