My oil cooler cracked and leaking bad. Had a leak for a while but could not find it until it let go. It did last over 400k. Now that they are obsolete and none that can found new, looks like the only option is to delete it or find a used one. Not a fan of a used oil cooler but may still source one.

Going to delete it to get back on the road. I do not use 4wd much and do not tow often, less than 2000 pounds when I do. This is my daily driver.

Any thoughts on having or not having the oil cooler?

    Lots of options...

Is the cooler itself leaking or just the o ring?

    https://www.yotashop.com/toyota-4ru...995-2004-oem-oil-cooler-gasket-kit-kit-1036b/

You could also delete it with this kit but you'll have to find a way to cap or connect the coolant lines without the cooler.

    https://www.yotashop.com/toyota-oil-cooler-removal-kit-3-0l-3vz-e-3-4l-5vz-fe-kit-1076/

The cooler itself is still available but very expensive

You could also replace the cooler with a filter base if you can find a 2nd hand one and run a 2nd oil filter in that position (JDM 5VZE had oil cooler and oil filter locations swapped)

This is for the 5VZ-FE V6. It is the oil cooler, the part behind the oil filter on the block and it is cracked and leaking through the side, not the o-ring. Not the radiator. Yes they sold for $800. Stupid expensive for a little tin can. Everyone still lists them for sale but nobody has one. I have spent hours searching and calling. My dealer and another source could not locate one as well.

The delete kit 1076 from Yota Shop comes with a cap for the water pump and a plug for the block. I have already ordered this kit.

Some or most 2wd came without one. Not sure of options where they did.

I have yet to compare in person a 2nd Gen oil cooler to the 1st Gen. I have only seen pictures as the look similar. I think the hose connections are oriented differently.

Partsouq has 12 in stock, for almost $600 less than you're quoting.

Just saying you got your solution within minutes of posting.
