I know this problem dates back to 1983 - 32 yrs. Likely longer. I still go by the quantity in the owners manual. Never been a problem.

Yours is a 2005. You need a new front main seal. A new rear main seal wouldn't be out of the question either. Since it is 10 years old.

Mine has no such issue with "over flowing" due to a little extra oil. Seals are new-ish. I regularly over fill my oil. A little over the top dot. I race my truck, so the oil sees lateral g's. Also did a test to see how far down the dip stick went into the upper oil pan versus how much room was left before hitting the crank counter weights.

Especially once the engine is circulating, that amount on his dip stick will be fine. Start going further and you can then run into the issue of contact.

I don't race or offroad or pull anything. What I know is that my truck started leaking at that front crank seal and I bought the tools, part and was ready to replace it but decided to change the oil first because it came up on it's mileage interval and whaaala no more leakage. Drive the truck for the next few months and still no more oil leak. Then I realized that I must have overfill it because I did recall adding oil one time because I misread the dipstick. It's been a year and half ago and still no front seal leak anymore.
My transmission seal is not leaking either, not anymore after I did the complete fluid flush myself and filled the tranny with the correct level I believe these come overfilled from the factory, especially this 2005 yr model. All is good now It's running like a dream now. no issues.
