    But to determine that it's a quart low you would have to compare the amount you drain to the amount you put in.

    The dip stick on this engine is shitty for reading an accurate amount of oil. How can you say it's a quart low from looking at the dipstick?

    Using the dip stick is how you check your oil level.

    I know. But how can you exactly quantify the loss on the poor dipstick in this engine?

    Not in the coolant & no smoke at all ??? Been working on my own cars for 40 years. Never seen anything like this.

    Catalytic converters. There was a bunch of oil in my exhaust and it burned through and about 5000 miles later I notice a 25% drop in milage (freeway) and I had a back pressure test done and it failed with flying colors.

    It must be burning oil. But its burning a little so you won't see the smoke.

    I guess, do you find your dipstick gives a definitive level? I guess if it's very low then it wouldn't be an issue.

    Okay gents- Lets not get chippy. This could be an interesting thread-If we go to the calling names and being dicks to each other place....It won't last.

    FWIW- Lots of folks have said this dipstick is a crappy design.

    And 40 years of car experience or not...The oil is going SOMEWHERE. You are burning it slowly enuf that it's not making clouds of smoke or it's a slow drip vice a steady stream leak....It's somewhere.

    oh and op, did you make sure to tell the dealer you were referring
    to miles not km? sounds stupid but your owners manual
    should say the max normal engine oil consumption
    is 1.1qt per 1000km or 600m.......
