    LEER Shell with dome lights operated with 3 way switches, aux backup lights with relay and 3 position switch, modified wiring to compass/temp display and clock to include switch that disables dimming function (poor man's DRL solution), Scan Gauge 2
    Ask them to pull the plugs and inspect. I'll bet it's all going into one cylinder and it should be obvious which one. They can't say it's normal if only one plug is oil fouled.

    Mine is still full at 5K miles with 5w30 conventional oil. I've had an engine burn a quart in 500 miles with absolutely no sign of it other than the plugs.

    Don't go looking directly for the source, eliminate possibilites and whittle down to the source.

    Vehicle runs ok than the oil issue I assume?

    This is the first time I've read where someone can read the 2nd gen dipstick without issues. What's yor secret if you don't mind me asking? In the 3 1/2 years I've had my truck I've had nothing but problems trying to get an accurate reading. I ended up filing/etching marks in a "X" pattern to see it better. That helped but it's still a pos. What's your secret?

    1. Pull out dip stick
    2. wipe it off with towel (i use a paper towel or tissue)
    3. put dip stick back in engine
    4. pull it back out and read where the oil is on dip stick.

    Its the same as any other car I've checked.

    I first time I got the truck I thought I would die before I could see the oil level on the dip stick, but now I have no trouble. Its just like any other car I've checked the oil on.

    I saw this same problem years ago when i worked at a Saturn dealer as a technician.when a customer came in with an oil consumption problem,we had to drain and refill the engine,verify the level,and have them come back in 1k miles.if the engine was down a quart or more it qualified for a complete in vehicle tear down and each cylinder was rehoned with a smoother stone to eliminate the consumption issue.the problem was the rings never seated in the cylinder due to the course texture of the cylinder walls,this caused premature wear of the rings.after the rehone each piston received new rings and the engine was reassembled,and then retested.I realize that was a saturn,but it sure sounds the same.and the vehicles didn't smoke
