Installed a 4cly filter today by accident when I needed a 6cyl. I usually use oem but ran out and didn’t pay attention when I installed the one I bought today. I went back and realized it was smaller than the oem. Don’t have the old one anymore. Is it safe to drive it to the store to grab a new filter?

If you mean the oil filter, then yes.

Most aftermarket oil filters are common across the 4-cyl and 6-cyl. It'll be OK to run this filter until your next oil change. Just cut your next change interval by, say, 40%.

i agree you’d probably be fine but wouldn’t hurt to just pick up the right one. best to buy bulk OEM filters from Amazon

Just use slightly less oil and run with it for the full 5k miles or whatever you do. As mentioned above, if you go to any parts store and grab a filter for a 1GR, it will be equal in size to the 4cyl filter. Nothing wrong with it.
