    I have the Baxter setup that includes the relocation up to the engine compartment. I love it. I wouldn’t do this if you don’t plan on keeping the vehicle long. I installed at a couple thousand miles and plan on having the truck for 20 years. Makes my oil change easy and clean without the use of any tools. This is so because I also have the Fumoto valve.

    Did you buy the aluminum housing on Amazon, etc. or directly from a dealer?

    it was OEM from dealer.
    The plastic one is on, leaking now.

    New o-rings, correct placement, oiled, no thread galling or damage, property torqued with correct tool from MotiveX

    Sounds like the filter is not seating, forget the torque wrench, tighten the filter all the way until it bottoms, back off a notch and then you might use the torque wrench, or not, and just firmly tighten. I’ve never used a torque wrench on any oil change, no issues. This should all work out for you.

    BTW, using anything but OEM oil filter cap may void your warranty, and TOYOTA is very proud of these engines.

    Might you have the wrong filter installed? Too tall of a filter?

    My next oil change will be interesting...since I will be replacing the plastic with OEM aluminum housing.

    I'll have to report back in May.

    You might want to look at this video before you make that decision.

    Check the O rings again, something isn’t right. You shouldn’t be having the same leak problem with multiple housings.

    @The hammer

    I watched this video...he was talking negatively about the Non-OEM Aluminum Filter Cap.

    All the internals from the plastic filter cap can be swapped out. As long as there is the same spring tension, it shouldn't be a problem.

    I'll post my oil change in on "My Intro Thread" in May.

    Is 15620-31060 the PN for the aluminum cap? Amazon lists it as an acceptable replacement.

    Reason I ask is when I lookup this PN on parts.Toyota.com, it does not list the Tacoma as an approved application for the 31060 PN. I’m still under warranty so do not want to risk use unapproved part that might void the warranty.

    @Desert Dog

    Part# 15620-31060 is for the Aluminum Cap but the description says it fits: Avalon, Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Sienna and Venza.

    It does not say it fits a Tacoma.

    Part#: 15620-36020 is for the Plastic Cap and fits the others listed above plus the TC and the Tacoma. (Not sure what TC stands for)

    That's misleading...don't-cha think?

    Why would the plastic one fit the others listed for the Aluminum Cap but not the Tacoma?

    Here is the Aluminum from Amazon:

    thumbnail_IMG_6522_eda0e2779b5d795d9901e365d28617480906b21d.jpg

    Side by side with my plastic cap:
    thumbnail_IMG_7173_8341845c6e0b6b0f1c6c458280c21e3364f908fd.jpg

    You can see the center piece stands a little taller on the aluminum than the plastic.

    That post can be twisted off the aluminum cap since there's a little tension spring holding it in.

    OP, your housing is almost surely just not tight enough. Forget the whole 18 ft. lbs/torque wrench spec and simply tighten it until it bottoms out. I don’t mean over-tighten it… Mine spins with pretty noticeable resistance almost the whole time turning it (and would probably hit 18 ft. lbs. on a torque wrench a couple times on its way before actually bottoming out and being all the way on). It stops when it’s done and I don’t overtighten it once it’s there, I just make sure it’s snug at that point and I’ve never had it leak a drop or had any trouble getting it back off the next time.
