Did you take out the drain bolt as well on the oil pan it's further back from the oil filter. The plastic thingy only drains what's in the filter housing not all the oil. I thought the same thing at first that it drained All the oil. It does not. You still have to remove a drain bolt.

    Same as everybody else...
My oil filter was on so tight that none of the filter wrenches I own would loosen it. I ended up buying a Lisle and it came off with no problem.

Put some never seize on the filter drain bolt. Mine has been seized since I've owned it( '12 T4R 30k thru 90k miles). Ive been showered with used oil most times I've changed it.

My sig. Pontiac cartridge is easy and clean. On top of the engine by the firewall (2.0L) lift out set at a angle and let it drain. My wife's iQ is also a cartridge and a super easy oil change. Maybe a 15min job. Even though my Taco has the inverted can filter (a pain at first, now I know the tricks) is a breeze to change the oil. Her last car (Pontiac Sunfire) SUCKED!

I would not use anti-sieze on the drain plug. It is loaded with metal and you don't want that in your oil. Use thread tape.

I don't use either. The oil lubes the threads and the crush washer seals and keeps the bolt from seizing.

I agree. I don't use anything either. But if some feels the need to, don't use anti-seize for this. I love anti-seize,just not in my engine.

He's talking about the filter housing drain plug. Circulating oil never sees this plug.

Anyone know the actual size we need for the oil filter? Is it 64mm?

Are you talking about the filter itself?
They make oil filter sockets for them..
