Yep I read that. I'm talking about a different from than that. Part # is xg3614 for regular sized or xg3600 for oversized. You have to research for the oversized equivalents because asking from an auto parts store or website doesn't list them even though they fit. Also that thread only compares amount of media and construction. It's also over 5 years old and filter manufacturers change, hence different part #.

Ugh, I cannot even believe that there is still a discussion on this.

    Just use OEM.

lol there are probably people on earlier pages talking about the "search" function. But what does it matter?

I use OEM. Just go to a dealership and get one, if it's more than $5 they're trying to steal from you.

I'm cool with guys asking for advice, especially new guys who aren't avid forum users and maybe just really want everyone's opinion / don't know how to search.

I'm not cool with people STILL buying into the 'yeah man aftermarket oil filter adds 30HP and givez you massive gainnzzzzz' thing.

Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy!

Some of us don't live near a dealership or they don't sell them for a good price compared to one found at a store down the street. Also, not all of us have storage for spare parts. I also like buying filters as needed because I'm hoping it's not been in storage for years. I just want to see real science of OEM vs aftermarket other than cutting it open and measuring how much filter media is in it and overall weight. I want to see amount of filtration and flow with amount of oil pressure I'm each. I want to see maximum hours each can handle until each component of the filter fails. I like Bitog forums because they open up filters after being used, to me thats a better representation of the filters quality.

OEM. And if you're really worried about your oil quality, get a filter magnet and a magnetic drain plug to help pull out the metal.
You should see what collects on my magnetic drain plug in a 5,000 mi LOF interval. I can't imagine what winds up in the filter.

Although aftermarket filters dont void warranty, I would rather use an OEM at least while under warranty. Just sayin.
