    Neither shows up as a supersession of the other which leads me to believe they aren't interchangeable.

    You can check yourself by searching the part number on any dealer's online parts department.

    Even though the housings of the oil filter may be the same, there are differences in the internals of an oil filter that might make them incompatible. The pressure at which the relief valve may open might be different, etc... That might be the reason why the reference tables don't show them as interchangeable.
