One more thing occured to me, and it is one of those "Is it just out of gas?" kind of questions, so please don't take offense , but for the sake of going down the list and checking all the boxes...

Are you lubing the oil filter gasket before installing?

anyone know of a filter that is taller (larger) with similar pressure bypass - I would love to have one that is larger than the tiny one that's on our trucks!

I don't personally know of any, but if you reference post #20 I think coldcanuk could probably build you one...

I just bought the same style, and oc course they come in various sizes.

I still have the package: The size for the OEM oil filter is 74mm with 14 flutes. The brand I got was Imperial, and the model is IF-7414. $6.18 at the stealer.

Nice, but that's way out of my league. I'll stick to making crappy Fram filters:)

I understand. You know, I was thinking about it and if you switch from a Coke can to an Old Milwaukee's Best can and skip the orange paint, but line-X the end (for grip ;)) you might have a good start-up business. I wouldn't put 'em on my truck, but they'd look badass on my '89 Festiva!!!

I use this to remove 95% of all stuck oil filters at work. On my truck I only use Denso or Wix oil filters. A dry Wix filter weighs more than a Fram with oil in it, lol. I tighten more than just snug because I don't care if it's hard to remove that's a lot better than it leaking or coming off and blowing the motor.
