Good luck on the rebuild. IMO, I would go with a good used engine with a 30 day warranty.

Looks like you had a work done on bank 1 head, but you stated that the driver's side shows low compression (bank 2).
Potentially the current issue is not related to the previous repair.
In the cylinder wall pics, sre those scored walls?

My phone's resolution isn't very good, is the piston crown chewed up around the edge here?

Otherwise a leak down test and/further disassembly is warranted i'd say.

A junkyard engine is a good idea though

To me it looks chewed up around the edges with a lot of buildup on top of the cylinder

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Looks like coolant burned to the piston crown.

That's what I was wondering, so it does look like coolant? Keep in mind I'm definitely not any type of a mechanic

Looks like you have two options 1. Buy an expensive replacement long block from Toyota. 2. Try and find a low milage engine from a salvage yard. My opinion option no. 2 will be the most cost effective.

You will probably get lots of opinions from this forum but that’s mine.

Toyota doesn’t sell long blocks. They sell short blocks for about $3500. He’s still probably want new heads and valves to go with that. It would be a decent amount of work a DIYer.

    I’d go with #2.

So bank 1 seems to still be in bad shape despite that being the side that was repaired and despite the fact that that doesn’t seem to be the side you’re concerned about.

unless you’re reporting which cylinder has which PSI incorrectly.

1, 3, 5 are right side, front to rear.

2, 4, 6 are left side, front to rear.

Correct 1,3,5 is the left side and those are much lower psi than the right and it looks like 2,4,6 are higher psi and definitely getting hotter than. The left side I'm assuming based on the burnt oil in the intake manifold

No. 1, 3, 5 are right side. Bank 1 is right side on this engine. If it helps, look at the lower intake manifold. The front port goes to cylinder #1. The front port goes to the right side.

When you had the cylinder imbalance code years ago, P11EE, that was for cylinder #3. Right side middle. At that time, that cylinder was low compression, 120 psi. Now you have low compression on all 3 left side cylinders: 2, 4, 6. Probably from the coolant or head gasket or whatever happened there recently.

the oil vapor from the intake manifold comes from the PCV, and the reason it lands in 2/4/6 lower manifold runners is probably because those are the higher runners in the upper intake manifold and are more inline with where the PCV hose enters the upper intake.

I'm not a mechanic, when I say left side I mean the passenger side so when the hood is open and you're looking at the motor the left side (passenger) is low on compression

I get it, just trying to clarify because it causes confusion. Left side is officially the side that the left turn signal is on, for all vehicles. Same for right. The reason being that driver side and passenger side don’t apply universally because not all countries drive on the same side of the road. So for the US, it helps to refer to what you know as the driver side, as the left, and vise versa, no matter where you’re standing.

So now that we have clarified we are both talking about bank 1, it seems like those are low psi. I would be looking for a used low mile junkyard motor. Unfortunately, be ready to spend about $5-6k on the motor alone and probably several thousand in labor if you plan to farm it out.
