Have you unbolted the inspection cover off the bell housing? Take that off and see if the oil is coming from behind that cover. If it's dry in there, then look elsewhere like the valve cover or something else leaking oil that is traveling back there. You can see it in the pictures you posted. It has 3 bolts and it come off so you can access the torque converter bolts on the flexplate.

I used to be a tech a toyota. A quick and easy check without dye would be to apply a paper towel to the area. If its brown its engine oil. If its red its automatic trans and hopefully you're not bleeding. :p

Looks like a rear main leak bud. i have the same problem and im going through about a quart a week. its a 12 hour flat rate job to replace the rear main and you are going to pay a good amount of money to have it fixed at a shop. Jus for a little added info, if your living in sacramento, the shop rates are prolley going to be around $75-$100 an hour and at 12 hours.... yea lots of money. best bet is to use the dye. you can buy it from a parts store or NAPA. once you find out where it is leaking, either rear main or rear of the oil pan (if ur lucky 6.4 hour job gotta drop the front diff) find a buddy with a hoist, or a high lift jack and tall jack stands and jus work on it. i will try and get the procedures off of all data or mitchell for you.

I'm in Sacramento too. Been looking for a good shop but no luck. If you find one can post the name and how much they charge for that seal?

I had this happen on my 02 3.4 v6 a few years back, I tracked it down to the rear main. I had the dealer put a new one in due to the pulling transmission etc. It was costly, like 600 bucks but it leaked again about 6 months later and the dealer replaced it again for free. Based on the dates you've probably already had it fixed.

It stopped leaking for now. I looked around and found a pretty good and trustworthy shop. It's called neighborhood garage by sunrise and coloma road. Pretty good reviews also on yelp. Hope it helps. I have a cousin that will do it for me at a 350 price so that's who I am going to when I'm ready.

Thanks for the heads up on that shop! That's only a few miles from my house.

I'll have to look in to how much of a pain it is to do myself. I'm pretty tight on $$$ right now but oddly, mine stopped leaking too. Pretty odd

Just a thought, but try changing your oil with high mileage oil, and throw a little extra seal sweller in it as well. Might cure it. The problem usually is the seal drys out, seal swellers soften them back up and might help
