Brief history: 2019 OR 2wd with 5800 miles, 2/1 lift. First service was completed January 11, 2020 and the service report/print out indicated that everything was checked and no issues and/or fault was found.

Fast forward to today (February 1, 2020), I happen to glance over the garage floor and saw a small amount of oil dripping on the floor. Wiped it clean (hoping its from the previous oil change) and drove about 15 miles. Soon as I got home, crawled under and there is quite a bit of oil sipping from the black plastic above the oil pan and the seal around the oil pan.

I am going to take it in for inspection on Tuesday and want to come prepared just in case I get jerked around. Thank you in advance.

I can see/feel that there is a small amount of slippage coming from this

Rear main seal. Not sure how an oil change could cause this...

Edit: viewed on better screen, not so sure are you talking that piece in the third pic by where the transmission mounts to engine?

Yes, wiped it clean 30 minutes ago, checked it again just now and there is oil sipping out. Thank you.

Best of luck, Good thing your under warranty. This seal is not a common Tacoma issue. Especially on a essentially new truck. Likely unrelated to oil change.

Looks like warranty work. I hope things turn out for the best.

Thank you. Another question, is this something that I have to urgently get repaired or can it wait another week or two (have a trip coming up)? I am assuming that it will take a day or two to get this repaired.

Wait and see what your dealer says. I wouldn't make any big plans, though.

Will do and thank you. Not taking the taco on any long drive but I do need it to commute to and from work (30 miles roundtrip).

Very strange considering how fast its leaking/seeping.

Did you notice it leaking before the dealer service?

Keep an eye on it to see if it gets any worse.

This is likely a pretty severe leak of a vital seal. Get it to the dealer soon. Keep an eye on oil level.

No leak before the dealer service. My wife told me that she did not notice any oil spots on the garage floor yesterday morning. It is strange considering it took me 10 months to get to 5K miles.

Many dealers doing warranty work also provide a loaner, possibly another Taco.

Check around above that spot to ensure it's not running down from above there.

I'm going to go with this unless you paid them to do a service? When I did mine there was no oil changed, service interval is 10k for oil. From the picture it looks like a rear main seal to me.

correct but the dealership told me it’s either 10k miles or 10 months. I’m at 10 months 5k miles.

Mine never mentioned that. It was 6 months/5k and oil changes at 10k. Maybe just your dealers policy? Same thing with our Sienna and we hardly ever use that thing.

I would throw a big piece of cardboard under the leak and just keep checking the dipstick until you can get it into the dealer .
