So I have a 2015 trd off road double cab 4x4
I purchased this truck less than a month ago it had 29k miles.
It had been serviced at Toyota dealer every 5k miles.
Today I’m bored at the barbershop so I sign up for the Toyota app with detailed maintenance records..
at 15k miles it’s brought it in with oil leak. It says dye was added and they found leak. And fixed
17k it’s brought in will oil leak. And it’s fixed again says timing cover oil leak.

So today after looking at this I decide to pop my hood and take a look and I see maybe 4-5 spots where oil has leaked onto the undercarriage of the truck.. I’ve never seen oil underneath the truck from being parked.

Going to take it into a mechanic next week. Have to fly across the country for a funeral Saturday.

Any ideas if this is still the timing cover leak, what should the cost to repair be ? I know I have a 90 day Warrenty from the dealer I purchased the truck from last month. Is this going to just be an ongoing problem? Just the start of more headaches with this leak?

Personally, I would just wipe up the oil you see and keep an eye on it. If you start seeing more oil on the undercarriage or notice the oil level getting lower, then take it to Toyota to fix. Your power train warranty is 5 years or 60k miles.

I can't give you any idea on price, but what I can tell you is this; everything mechanical can be fixed. If it is fixed correctly, then it will either give you no problems again for a very long time, or you have really bad luck.

Now here is the thing; its only got 12k miles on since the last oil repair. Couple of things; it could still have oil that leaked out from before, or it could have had oil spilled during an oil change, or a goblin could have snuck under your hood and poured oil around just to confuse you. Bring it up to the dealership, have them take a peek to see if it appears to be a current leak, document and monitor it, and don't be overly worried.

Those maintenance records only indicate that it was repaired ONCE for leak.

    First time in: added dye.
    Second time in: confirmed leak.
    Third time in: fixed it.

    Shit happens sometimes.
My friend bought a Tacoma 2012 and his AC condenser went bad at 25k miles..

Not sure how you meant that, but it sounds as if you're under the impression that timing cover's been resealed 3x now. What I see:

2/27 - found leak, added dye. "leak will be monitored" (not repaired)
4/07 - leak confirmed, timing cover "customer will return" (not repaired)
4/30 - "resealed front timing cover" (repaired)

According to how it was written it was fixed once.

@irayfz6 has the right idea. Clean up what you found and monitor it further. If it gets worse, take it in and let the warranty handle it.

The timing cover leak is a common leak on these 4.0L engines, but typically once they're resealed it's good.

    Oh noes! The dramas!!

Sorry, I didn't see your post. Probably has something to do with you being on my ignore list, after reading your petulant posts in the "2tr-fe interference or non" thread.

I read this as a previously owned vehicle. Is the 5yr 60k mile warranty transferable?

It doesn't have to be transferred. It applies to the vehicle, not the owner.

took truck in for normal service and asked about the oil tht was spotted.
Mechanic said it was old and more than likely spilled during the last oil change right before i bought the truck.
