Over the past couple months I've noticed a pool of oil where I park my truck in the driveway. I can see fresh oil around the valve covers, but it's hard to imagine that that much oil is leaking from there. Bottom side of the engine has oil everywhere. The truck has 280,000 and i'm afraid the repairs may be more than the engine is worth at this point. Thoughts?

That's a typical leaking point. Just to be certain its the valve cover gaskets, clean all the oil off and come back to it in a day or so. See where it's leaking from

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
With that many miles every gasket in the thing probably needs to be replaced. How often do you add oil? Better be keeping a close eye on it if it's leaking that bad.

My old '78 Ford Bronco had a leak problem like that. Trying to find exactly where it was all coming from, the real question was where it DIDN'T leak. Had to add a quart of oil to it every 3 days. I finally caved in and bought a complete gasket set, pulled the motor and installed new gaskets top to bottom. Will do the same to the Taco when the time comes, one of my valve covers has some seepage going on currently but nothing to worry about yet.
