So I was coming from a privately owned gun range, truck got clay and dirt all over. So I went to a robo-wash (coinstar) with high pressure sprayer and foam brush and have been here numerous times with a Jeep. Evidently the jackass before washed some sort of piece of equipment that had some sort of oil/grease on it. I didn't notice till I used the brush on part of my driver side mirror and window and a little bit of paint, I immediately stopped and went home once i got the majority of dirt off (which is were I should've washed it). After driving today and part of last night, the film is still there, I scrubbed the hell out of it and I can't seem to get it off. I've searched how to grease/oil off car paint and windows and I've seen Dawn dish soap, Coke, some sort of degreaser, paint thinner.

My question is,has anyone ever got oil on their paint/windows and what did they use to get it off? I can tell it's oil because whenever I rinse it I can see the oil sheen on the ground.

I ended up using white vinegar on the windows and washed the areas with Dawn. It seemed to do the trick.

Another window product is Bar Keepers Friend. It will get all the nasties off your windshield.

Dawn, or Dawn and claybar is great for the paint. But you need to rewax the area, as the Dawn wiped out whatever you may have had on it.

I figured I needed to rewax. I’ve never waxed myself so I’ll pay someone to do it.
