so i switched to synthetic today(mobile 1 10-30), drained my oil, and put in 5 quarts so far. i checked the dip stick at 4 quarts, was about 1/3 between the dots, so i know im supposed to put in 5.5-5.8 quarts. i put in the 5th quart and measured again, and it is well over the 2nd dot on the dip stick, meaning overfilled... (after measuring multiple times). Is there anything i should be worried about? or am i good to go?

Did you take off and empty/change the oil filter? That could be your extra. That, or you didn't wait to completely drain the lines.

Did you drive the truck just before you changed the oil? Did you just drain the oil pan and then plug it back up?

drove the truck before to warmup the oil. let it drain about 10 mins.i idled for a lil bit and i went ahead and threw in the extra .5 qt. measured again, it seems to be right at the 2nd dot. so i think it kinda took a lil to get into everything.

and i replaced the old filter too.
