In the video at the 0:02 mark it shows the O-ring.

    Just a simple banjo fitting.

I'd venture not since they were thoughtful enough to apologize and artistically bring your attention to it.

40+ years of d*cking around with cars and I have never heard this! Thanks. Learned something new.

Edit- I was gonna suggest the teflon tape too. I see that worked. Once way back in the day I got a flat on the road in the middle of the night. Friggin roofing nail, one of those with the big square tops. No spare tire of course. I pulled out the roofing nail and in my small toolbox I had a few sheet metal screws. I wrapped one real well with teflon tape and screwed it in there. Used my daughters bicycle pump which was luckily in the back, pumped it up and I was on my way. The thing never leaked a pound of air. I kept it in there until we got new tires.

Where I retired from, Unit Repair used to use this method all the time when an assembly line would forget to install the accessory oil or coolant drains. Works, I've used it at least once at home. I wrapped a clean shop rag around the hose to act as a gasket.

yup, had mine for over 10 years now. Easy peasy tool less oil changes and no worries about this or accidentally draining the transmission, etc.

Dirt Perfect on youtube did this with his big green Deere. I was surprised to see how well it worked. Granted he did get a couple quarts in the vac in the end.

How would someone know to look for a Fumoto valve unless you told them about it? I don't know what % of average street daily-driver vehicles use Fumotos but I bet it's pretty low.

Plus it's out of sight above the skid plate, plus plus they could do that with a ratchet and a 14mm anyway

It’s not rtv it’s torque seal. We draw dicks on each other’s boots where there is someone working on the engine in top bay and you are underneath.

Have used Fumoto valves on motorcycles for years without failure. Considering how those bikes went tumbling across Baja and the skid plated Tacoma oil pan, I wouldn't have too many worries.
Having the oil in your dependable truck contained by an extra crush washer would cause more concern.

Unless you've never used it, kinda hard to judge.

You can not pull the plug out with just your fingers. The magnet is hella strong.

Idk there were enough bad Amazon reviews to keep me from considering it. The ones that said it failed didn’t mention the magnet, but the rubber part failing to seal over time.

Your just teasing for laughs right? I mean a magnet drain plug? Who the hell would trust a magnet to keep the oil in there truck?

    No joke.

I've had it in my truck oil pan for 3 years.

I recently upgraded to a cloud based subscription blue-tooth controlled oil pan drain plug that automatically removes itself (using gps and low power vr imaging) once inside my garage and a pan slipped under the truck.
$299 + $8.99 for the monthly subscription. Pretty easy to wire in, I opted for the premium package though ($11.99/month), it comes with an ignition cut-out relay that engages if a low oil fault code is sent to my Google account via my smart phone. (and the truck is stationary)

--- I swear, you guys crack me up sometimes. I think some of you just modify things for the sake of modifying. And bragging rights. :D
And ya'll will debate the damnedest things. A magnetic oil plug vs a Fumto valve. Too funny. It's cool though.
I guess I'm just behind the times, but I swear I have never felt the need to do anything but change a washer on an oil-pan drain plug. And that's after I've flipped it over once or twice.
Never so much as a drop of oil on my garage floor.
