Just checked my oil today and noticed the oil plug on the nipple below the oil filter is missing. Anyone know where I can get a replacement? 2011 prerunner.

Ace hardware sells rubber caps like that in dozens of different sizes.

I’d change the title. People might surmise that a missing oil cap is the missing oil cap from where you film the engine with oil. Also known as the 710 cap.

You’re just missing a really irrelevant piece of rubber.

Also, you can always try Toyota. I’m sure they have thousands in stock for when their lube techs drop them down in the engine bay

The only purpose I can see for that cap is if you forget to put a hose or bottle on/under the spout and start screwing the oil filter off, it keeps the oil from running onto the belt long enough for you to tighten the filter back up. If you're diligent enough to do things right, it serves no purpose.

I lost that cap almost 10 years ago and haven't missed it.

I let the filter drain when I'm changing my oil and none will leak.

Oil will continue to drip a while after you remove the bottle, because a rag can't practically reach the crevices around the bottom of the oil cooler. Dripping oil lands on the radiator hose. Of course, if you install a drain hose permanently, it's not an issue.

Wipe it out with a rag, give it a shot of brake clean, remove bottle, done.
