    Hi all,
I smelt burning oil this morning in my truck(5vz, 5 spd., 176k). It appears the oil pressure switch, or what I think is the oil pressure switch sprung a rogue leak. Its the sensor located in front of the oil filter, towards the front of the engine. I have been chasing what I thought was an oil filter leak for the past 2 years(and 5 oil & filter changes) and it still leaks. The truck sat for a week and a half before this cause I'm at school. I figure I have to replace the sensor, but is there a gasket or something behind it that seals it? TO be clear, the oil pressure light is not on, and the oil patch looks to be below and in front of the sensor itself.
I'm in western Massachusetts, so I don't know if the recent cold we had was enough to exacerbate whatever leak was there before.

It looks like a similar problem that's in this thread from earlier this year, but on a 3.4. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...eak-location-pic-inside.716640/#post-25503019

    Some advice would be great
I will snap some pictures of it later today(I'm expecting a comment about this)
    Thanks!

If it is your oil pressure switch, and you choose to replace it, remember to only torque it to 11ftlbs. I overtorqued mine and cracked my engine block.

Call your friendly neighborhood dealer and ask if the oil switch needs or comes with a gasket.

I have a 2G, but mine was in the same position and was $120 at my local shop to replace, I just let them do it b/c I needed the truck for a business trip. Could just be a gasket perhaps but at that I'd just change the whole thing anyway
