Well I’ve replaced the keyway replaced the balancer and replaced the crank timing sprocket. So it’s all good and not damaged. It comes down to the timing cover is most likely damaged from the first accident of the balancer going on wrong. Could be the solution just replacing the cover

You know I had a dissimilar problem on my rear drum brakes....
rebuilt with napa cylinders......and they just didnt feel right....
and could not get the pads to tighten up.....

So I went in and replaced everything with aisin oem parts....
    even the parking adjuster assembly..
It was just too important to mess around with......

And yeah like I said before....when I replaced the HB on my first engine....
on very very close attention to the inside of the cover there was a tiny hair line crack caused by that wobble from the first bad HB....

For all I know I bought it like that.....because there was alway a leak there....
what a mess.....slinging all that oil for thousands of miles...

And like I said....I bought a $100 after market timing cover.....took the after mkt pump out...
and then put new aisin pump gear inside it and bought the hex screws from LC eng......for the oil pump cover....

So in theory it could be your timing cover.....or the oil pump cover.....or both....

    maybe the gear is off......

I’m not to worried about aftermarket as the cover I have on is aftermarket I don’t see a problem with it. Only reason this is going on is cause of a mistake that was made and since it’s a aluminum cover doesn’t take hits so well

When you initially pack the gear with Vaseline.....think its less about suction....
and more about keeping those delicate aluminum surfaces from spinning up dry....even for a split second.....
