I know this has probably been addressed, but with searching I have not been able to find it. I have a 2014 v6 with 30k on it. The previous owner has been getting oil changes done at the dealer with conventional oil. I have always run Motul full synthetic through my subaru WRX because it is one of the few oils that would stand up to the high heat of the turbo. With that being said I no longer need to spend that kind of money.

What oil does everyone suggest? I will be keeping the truck till the floor boards rust out. Should I change to synthetic, semi-synthetic or run conventional? What oil should I use?

I drive about 700 miles a week and most of it is city driving.

    Any suggestions would be great.

Also I will be doing the changes every 5k and doing a rotations.
Do you recommend a round robin change or a x applesauce?

    Thanks again everyone.

Wow, 700 miles a week.... That's about 3k miles a month, so you plan on doing oil changes every other month?... Definately go synthetic. Any synthetic.

It's probably been covered a thousand times.

FWIW, I run Mobil1 however my $0.02 is that regular changes using a high quality oil is the key more than a particular type.

Sounds like you want something fairly cheap but still good. I run Castrol Edge full synthetic in my first gen. Been running that in it since I rebuilt the engine 4 years ago, and the oil comes out just barely darker than when it went in, and that's changing it every 5k.

Mobil 1 full synth with OEM filter and crush washer. Buy the oil from Sams (6 qts are usually on sale for around $28-$30) and the filters online.

Great point on Mobil1. I get it at Wal-Mart (no Sam's membership) and you get a 5 quart jug for about $22. If you compare you'll see it's often more expensive for 4.5 quart jug other places.

FWIW, I run Amsoil Signature Series oil and Toyota 90915-YZZD3 filters. Replacing the oil plug gasket at each change is definitely a good idea.

If I had the money: Amsoil all the way. Since I don't: Valvoline Full synthetic or Mobil 1 full synthetic

Don't over think this. Get some off-the-shelf synthetic (M1, Valvoline, Castrol, Pennzoil, whatever floats your boat) and a decent filter. Call it a day and enjoy life.
